Private BitTorrent trackers are probably one of the fastest mediums to download new and old movie, music, game and TV Show releases. However, on most private trackers, you need to maintain a minimum upload:download ratio (you need to upload a similar amount of data you downloaded) in order to survive without getting banned. Apparently some users don’t like this system and try to cheat their ratio using hacked clients, modded clients, data spoofing and other methods.

Same as always, "use this and you'll get banned".

But apart from that there a some legit tips to get your ratio up, although those aren't a real secret. :wink2:

Damn, this article was worse than FSF's - at least Sharky actually cheated at some trackers before posting (but otherwise he gave the usual "you WILL get banned" speech). It annoys me to see them "fight" cheating with misinformation and fear rather then facts.

Well, don't accredit their words anon, all they have to say is always misleading & displaced from facts, which will eventually approve nothing near their desires.

I like this line the best: "EDIT: The site has been down for quite a while. The project may have been abandoned."

aRticles like that are published for a reason, you see.

Filenetworks is in the business of passing on info to the BT community. It talks about new trackers, events, news, etc...etc, yes??

It also, I am sure, realizes that there's so much cheating going on in the BT community that it feels some idea of necessity to stop or curtail that activity, yes??

The site tries in what-ever reasonable ways it can think of to pass on, what I would call, propaganda to its readers to not cheat.

Here are my two cents on the topic;

As I think, it was written for those who don't have that much experience with torrenting on private trackers and the torrent scene, it could be helpful to know about the various methods of maintaining a positive ratio...

But I rather stick to SealLions opinion too, since they are just trying to get attention, as he said, because the text stated only the staus quo but hasn't shown any new methods to push ones ratio.
(maybe special events, such as christmas, they could have added too where one can something to get a better ratio.)

EDIT:

:smilie_switch:
Happy Easter to everybody here on SB-I

That's a very good and valid point, vDD.

That's very true that FSF does do that with respect to passing on info to new BT users.

Oh, and yes...HAPPY EASTER TO ALL as well.

At least they admit it.

I'll have to agree on that. No BitTorrent trackers or communities like cheating (and they're right); for them it's never justified.

Such a honeypot-article about "cheating on private trackers" would probably convince most readers with no cheating experience to back off and try legitimate methods to increase their ratio. Furthermore, such a title can get good Google-exposure, which further spreads their message.

But well, if someone that was going to cheat ends up improving his ratio honestly, it's better for everyone, right?
