Looking to improve the performance of your AMD-based PC, but don't want to deal with tweaking startup files and other items in the Windows registry? Or perhaps you'd like to OC your processor within Windows?
For these types of cases, AMD has released a beta version of their Fusion software utility. The Fusion app can be used for shutting down background processes. Say for instance you want to hop into a game real quick and want (or need) to devote all your PC's resources to the game for max performance. With one simple click you can use Fusion to temporarily shut down unneeded processes and background tasks, then when you're finished playing you can turn them back on.
If you want Fusion to go a little further in its tweaking endeavors, you can set it to run in Advanced mode. In this mode the app will turn off eye candy features in Vista such as Aero Glass and the Windows sidebar. If you'd like to go further still you can set Fusion to Expert. Expert mode provides CPU/GPU overclocking as well as hard drive acceleration. You can also create custom profiles with the app, say for instance you'd like to setup a gaming profile that will OC your CPU and GPU. Eventually AMD plans to include features for laptop users, say for instance you'd like to underclock your system components in order to improve battery life during a long flight.
