Turns out Capcom isn't the only company sprucing up an old fighting game on Xbox Live Arcade. A list of games that'll appear at the Tokyo Game Show next month has been released online, and one delightful surprise it reveals is that SNK's King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match is set for release over XBLA next year (translation via Siliconera).

Unlike Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, though, Ultimate Match isn't a remake specific to a digital release -- the game came out in Japanese arcades back in March and on the PlayStation 2 in June. Along with the 2009 release on XBLA, the PlayStation 2 version of the game is set for release in North America next year as well. The remake cleans up the graphics, addresses some balance issues, and adds 10 new characters -- bringing the total up to 64.

damn,I loved that game back then when I used to play it alot ! It was a real fun especially when I was on games shop consoles (with those 4 buttons & 1 movable joystick),I was cheating in the last 3 fights so that I do 3x/4x combos in the same time dragging my opponent's HP bar to zero in no time

Don't cheat ... I know how frustrating it is to be hit thousands of times by your opponent in fighting games and be unable to counterattack

heheh  Well, but it's still kinda funny to knock him down with just a single hit
