if you use paranoi ipfilter you shouldn't use proxy servers because proxy servers are not safe as you think for a paranoid user ;)

tested and confirmed that all of the site loaded with no problem...
all of them? then there's something going on with my Inet connection.... i use opendns so it can't be a dns failure (where i'd get the opendns guide to load instead of a big "Error!" page anyway) :confused2:

@ anon: you might need to load them up using Firefox since it has an advanced IP flushing handler that imo refreshes pages in terms of mini-seconds which is similar to using a proxy at the same time !! just try firefox & if the problem remains then restart you router/change your ip :top:

i tried that and guess what was causing the problem..... my ip range blocker was picking up the non-working proxies as "FDC Servers.net, LLC - antip2p" :biggrin:
haha now they all work :top: that's most likely why some others didn't work; i'll disable my blocker when checking your proxy lists :top:

discovered it while googling for "ssl web proxies" at my cafe today ^^ you don't even have to choose one from the list, there's a "random server" option :smile:

P.S Since the definition os both TLS & SSL is : Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols that provide secure communications on the Internet for such things as web browsing, e-mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging and other data transfers. There are slight differences between SSL and TLS, but they are essentially the same.Then once the TLS cleint launches a connection with the Host (server),secrurity parameters must be agreed on between both client to ensure safe hosted bandwith which at best scenarios ends up with "Page not found/Lost Connection" :shockkk!:

the ad itself will disappear :top: but as the script that shows it is embedded in the kproxy page you'll still have to click "skip this ad >>"... not such a big effort anyway :biggrin:

Many web-based proxies are hosted at Fdcservers.net becuase of its cheap bandwidth.
i don't have anything against fdcservers :top: and now that you mention that, it's been a while i don't update my blocklists, maybe FDCS isn't flagged as bad anymore ^^

the web proxy you have in your sig has just a little ad in the top and that's fine. but what about those ssl proxies that stick a handful of 250x250 ads in your face that sometimes are actually bigger than the site you're browsing itself?
don't get me wrong, if i find a site helpful and want to support it so that it'll last, i click the ads and browse the page i'm directed to a little :smile:
google ads, layer ads, the ocassional banner is OK. but sometimes hosters go too far... :confused2: and the hosts file can't distinguish between one or another, it blocks the whole host(s). :/

it seems it is google text ads they detect if are blocked. using a browser that lets you manipulate and reload html source on the fly (opera :D) you can remove that offending piece of code and the proxy itself will work perfectly. of course this can be a bit uncomfortable to make, specially if you're in a rush, and having so many other proxies that won't try to detect ad-blockers... :wink:
fineproxy.com didn't work for me. could reach the url entry field, but when pressing "go" to load a site, all i get is a blank page. maybe my isp blocks them, or they're blocking my ip range... :/

you may have disabled them to prevent other sites from knowing who's linking to them.
also, school filter bypassing is one of the things people usually use these proxies for: and some school firewalls may block referer sending when you browse. those in my "need referers enabled" list won't work for you in such cases... :wink:
