Microsoft has already released updates to work around this. Intel may also release new processor microcode to address it (not known at this point) as they did with Meltdown and Spectre, so stay tuned for BIOS updates as well.

Well these are accumulating now and I don't think Intel users are happy about it. Basically who was i7, will be using their cpu as if they were i5 (because disabling HT mitigates the new exploit). Lots of people saying they will move to the newer AMD cpus, since they are immune to most of these attacks.

This vulnerability in particular affects a lot of Xeon models. Since AMD's presence on the server market is near-zero, this is something that could level the playing field for them.

Anyway, my Celeron doesn't support hyper-threading, so I guess I'm 'kay :smilie4:
