Sandboxie trial reset

There aren't any trustworthy methods of cracking this very useful security software, but it does have a nearly fully functional 30-day period which can be easily reset. Make sure there are no sandboxed programs open, then run these commands as administrator and reboot.


sc stop SbieSvc
reg delete "HKCR\CLSID\{98E6BD24-2D93-41A5-BC6D-CB7C1507318B}" /v I /f

Do this once a month and the trial will last forever. Disabling automatic updates and blocking www.sandboxie.com and sandboxie.com in your hosts file wouldn't hurt either. This should be legal since you aren't tampering with any files or using a license you are not entitled to.

Oh, and do buy a license at least once if you can, the program is fairly inexpensive and very effective.

Just tell them you're Guy Incognito and use anonbox.net, problem solved.

This year, Sophos has released Sandboxie as Open Source to the community for further development and maintenance.

There is already a fork of it (https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/v5.40.1), maintained by DavidXanatos.

And you will not been asked for any personal details before downloading it.

I have been using Sandboxie since version 3.x (back when Windows Installer didn't work inside it) and this is the third time I've seen it change ownership: from the original creator to a different company, then Sophos, and now this. At least the code was released and further development encouraged, so I'll count it as a good ending...

David Xanatos is known for having continued work on DiskCryptor after its author abandoned it on 2014, and his contributions to NeoMule (including an "impossible" NAT traversal method), so I think the project is in good hands.

Anyway, I installed the new version and it works fine, with all formerly paid features available and no license check, of course. Looks like the trick in the first post is now useless =]
