Hi there,

as stated here (http://www.sb-innovation.de/f46/joal-1-0-3-new-ratiomaster-command-line-multi-os-33239/index3.html#post343487),

I would like to share my knowledge about BitTorrent client file format:
- key generation algorithms.
- peerid generation algorithms.
- announce url format.
for each BitTorrent client and version, to help people ensure their clients files are correct and emulate the real client as much as possible.

I don't pretend that i know everything about client emulation. But I believe that 10 peoples working together will always perform better than 10 peoples working on their own. And since there are multiple implementation of ratio faker (mRatio, RatioMaster, RatioMaster +, RatioMaster.net, JOAL, and most likely some others that i don't know yet) it could be nice to be able to talk about our client files.

So...
It could be nice if we had a subsection (maybe in Tools (http://www.sb-innovation.de/f46/)) where we could post topics like 'utorrent 3.5.1', 'qBittorrent 3.3.15' to share informations on how we could perfectly emulates thoses clients.
Of course, and since nobody is perfect, it could be nice to have extended edition privileges (at least for OP) , by 'extended edition priviliege' i mean that the OP should always be able to edit the first post, just like we do for 'Modification' when we post a ratio tool as a developer.

Thanks in advance.

If the subsection opens i'd like to create a topic for each of those client files (https://github.com/anthonyraymond/joal/tree/dev-v2/resources/clients).

I'm okay with a new section for this, all I want in return is a promise it'll be put to good use =]

I think a better approach would be to label the threads just "uTorrent", "qBittorrent", "Deluge" and so on, then explain the differences between versions within. Most new versions only change the peer_id prefix and User-Agent string, so making a new thread every time a new build is out just for those two things feels excessive.

One topic per client makes sense. But we will really need extended edition privileges on these topic to keep them up to date as we could do with a "changelog".

That privilege can't be toggled on a per-forum basis, but we can enable the modification system for the new section, which would be more or less the same.

Yep, it will be perfect :)

I have 4 client threads ready to be posted as soon as the sub-section opens, (and a terminology thread as well). :wsmile:

Sounds great! I'll create the new section as soon as I have an OK from the rest of the staff.

It's done

Client File Knowledge Base (http://www.sb-innovation.de/f275/)

The first post should be editable indefinitely (I found a permission setting for that I wasn't aware of), making the modification system unnecessary. Please give it a try. Besides that, permissions are the same as in the three client file sections we already had.
