This movie is waaaaaaay too chaotic. While I was into the Lego Batman movie, this movie was imho total crap :(
Story-line couldn't keep me interested longer than 10 minutes

'm not sure about the sense of a lego movie at all

not that hollywood movies need to make sense in any way, but here's a few candidates (for why it was made):
- product placement (several distinct worlds were used, undoubtedly ready for purchase)
- self-promotional (plenty of other hollywood movie references used)
- spreading/promoting/increasing ADD among kids/teens (chaotic/flashy/speedy scenes)
- the same regarding violence, its basically a copy of adult (action/...) movies (mis)translated for a younger audience
- the usual propaganda on various topics (from relationships among peers or towards parents or own ego-worship, to globalism and even up to dystopian topics)
- market(ing) opportunities in other areas (successful toys have a better chance to become transformed into successful video games/movies/series/... or at least a better chance to be made into these products in the first place)
