I never used Linux for more than one day :smile: so I can't judge the content of the article, I like the reviews on this website techradar.com , I hope they nailed it in this article:

In general, my best site to find free software (top of the free) is hands down techsupportalert.com, if I am in a hurry and I want the best 100% free tested software I go there and they don't disappoint, they seem to have a page for Linux, but they tend to stick with what works, not the best place to check brand new stuff, I always build up my windows from their top choices eyes closed:
