So I have Radeon HD3850 graphic card. The problem is for some reason resolution 1920x1080 isn't as it's suppose to be. Instead I'm forced with 1680x1050.

This one is 1680x1050
http://www.shrani.si/t/1Y/op/1NAwvUHW/ati1.jpg (http://www.shrani.si/?1Y/op/1NAwvUHW/ati1.png)

And this one is 1920x1080
http://www.shrani.si/t/3G/3s/10T5fxpk/ati2.jpg (http://www.shrani.si/?3G/3s/10T5fxpk/ati2.png)

Imagine that this whole picture is 1680x1050, and when I change it to 1920x1080 it's like what's this red rectangle. It's much smaller.
http://www.shrani.si/t/1Z/ju/4Pz9QZoF/ati3.jpg (http://www.shrani.si/?1Z/ju/4Pz9QZoF/ati3.png)

Doesn't fit on my LCD screen, it looks really ugly. And the most strange thing is, before I got this card I was using Nvidia GeForce 6600 and it was working just fine. Resolution 1920x1080 was as it's suppose to be. Anyone has any idea what to do?

Simple question "Do have the latest Drivers installed?"
Does it happen with only this wallpaper?

Also it might be that your might have the default background color RED centered making the foreground color above the background.

I think its more of a wallpaper issue than GC:wsmile:

Let me get this straight... when you change to 1920x1080 resolution, your desktop looks weird and blurry? Because that usually means the LCD screen isn't running on its native resolution (which obviously isn't the case, as it looked good with the old card).

In any case, my vote goes to getting the latest drivers as well...

Yes I downloaded the latest drivers today!
I think you got the wrong idea. When I change to 1920x1080 resolution, the screen becomes much smaller. I can see black edges left, right, up and down. It' shame I can't show you guys with screenshoot.

I know this buggs me too!

And I forgot to tell you that it's for AGP!

Then the problem is simple, the screen's obviously not adjusted for the new resolution and refresh rate combo. Fixable using those buttons your monitor should have on its front. :wtongue:

I wish it was that. But it's not. I tried that already!

Is your ATI- GC overclocked? It might also be that it might be causing that problem or the refresh rate settings could also be the cause.

I have used ATI- 3470 and never faced such an issue though.
PS: Hope your monitor supports it

yoco

No it's not overclocked. The monitor is brand new, just 2 months old!

It could be that you have window's default driver for the MONITOR. Make sure you change it to your brand and model, and go to the advanced video settings and make sure the "Hide unsupported refresh rates" or something like that checkbox is checked, so you avoid that issue too.
Some monitors and video cards have "Zooming" features, it could be that too.
Sorry for the vagueness of my instructions, I dont remember this by heart.

yoco

Where do I see for the default windows driver?
The "Hide unsupported refresh rates" are already checked.

The device manager. If it says "Plug & Play Monitor" instead of, for example, "SONY SDM-S53", it's using the default driver.

yoco
17.02.11, 17:00
It says "Plug & Play Monitor". Do I need to install the drivers for my monitor then?

One more thing. I managed to fix the resolution with an older drivers, but there's still this problem I'm getting all day long (even with newest drivers), I can't see some fonts for some unknown reason.

I'd greatly recommend that.

That's pretty weird, did you try it on a different browser? Anyway, I'd install my monitor's drivers first.

yoco

Installed monitor drivers, but this problem with missing fonts is still there. This happens on FF and even when I launch Gears of War game! :/
Works fine in Opera!

No idea as to why fonts would be affected by this.

Clear your FF cache and run a CCleaner registry scan, I'd say. Maybe that helps.

Wow man I don't know what you do with your computer, you always get the most bizarre issues! :P
Try disabling/enabling ClearType or whatever font smoothing options exist today (Don't know them, can't remember where the options are, Google it! :) )
You could also try Omega Drivers for ATi based cards -> OmegaDrivers.net | ATI/NVIDIA Omega Driver's Home, PC Gaming Drivers & News! (http://www.omegadrivers.net/) (I don't know if your card is supported)
Or you should stop banging the card with your dick :P

I think we all have had these really weird problems with our computers at some point or the other.

Microsoft has a powertoy to easily turn ClearType on and off as well as modifying a few (otherwise hidden) settings. And thanks for that Omega link, I didn't know about that!

yoco
17.02.11, 22:39
Well don't ask me what I did, but after installing new drivers (again) over old ones, everything seems to be fine now, I even see all the fonts. Or maybe it's something I did in bios??? Who knows, as long as it's working now :D

But I wouldn't celebrate just yet. I'm waiting for another BSOD to happen, if it happens!

It was most likely the monitor driver then :)
We will wait patiently for your next bizarre issue :D

Pretty funny that no one suggested this, but isn't it possible that it's just your monitor that doesn't support this resolution, or at least isn't very good at it?

The screen I have at work is one of the cheaper models. When I slide the resolution slider up, the screen keeps working but everything is blurry and nothing seems to fix it. After asking the tech people about it, it turned out that it didn't support the resolution (even though windows was already filtering out the resolutions it didn't support...)

It really sounds like this is your issue. I mainly think it's this because the screenshot you posted of the highest resolution is not blurry at all on my screen.

All in all, it's pretty hard to fuck up installing drivers for such a thing, so I really doubt that is the problem. Conclusion, either your screen doesn't support this or is broken, or your graphics card is broken.

edit: nvm, was fixed while i was typing this ^

As promised here's the BSOD. It happens completely random, mostly when I'm browsing on internet, doesn't matter which browser. I always get this

blue screen happend often cuz your pc is overheated/overclocked, memory fail. try runing memorytest at boot by pressing f7 or f8 i think if you use windows7. if memory is fine look the temprature of your pc when loading is at max

Hey guys! I don't wanna open a new thread, so I'm just gonna ask here instead.
My cousins graphic card died. He had ATI 9800SE (agp). Now he wants to buy the same one or a bit better one. My question is, what would you recommend? Where can I see which ones are better than his?

slikrapid

what would you recommend?

if a new(er) pc configuration is not an option then this is probably the most a (certainly outdated) agp graphic card can offer:

Hey guys! I'm in need of you help once again. This time it's for my sisters laptop. The card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370, and I'm searching for newest drivers and I found this
ATI Catalyst (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx#1)

But after downloading it says it's not compatible with the card I have!

Master Razor
06.11.11, 23:29
There are various models for that card. You don't have the drivers for your model. Go to device manager>display adapters>ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370 (or whatever it is called)>details tab>select as property: hardware ids.
Either copy those ids here, so that we can find the drivers for you or search them in google and see what you get.

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68E4&SUBSYS_1411103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68E4&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68E4&CC_0300

Master Razor

I'm afraid there's a problem. If I understood this right, ati/nvidia etc. only updates drivers as long the laptop is on the market. In other words, you can't find compatible drivers on ati's site anymore. You now have 2 choices:
1. goto your laptop's manufacturer and see if updated drivers exist
2. edit the .inf files from the latest 6370M drivers and add your your specific vendor id (1002) and device id (68E4). Just need to edit some component similar to your model.

Hope this helps.

Need your help guys! Not sure what to think about this.
A few days ago I noticed my monitor goes "off" (black screen shows) and after few seconds it comes back again. Before it goes off the screen is like this
http://shrani.si/t/17/nV/2nOBie0/untitled.jpg (http://shrani.si/?17/nV/2nOBie0/untitled.png)
Is this related to my ATI Radeon card or could it be really something wrong with the monitor?

Master Razor
07.03.13, 23:23
I doubt its related to the monitor but I can't be sure. Have you checked the temperature on that card?
Probably is a hardware failure.

anon
08.03.13, 08:02
It looks like raindrops fell in your browser!

If the monitor was the problem, you wouldn't have been able to make a screenshot of the glitch. I second Razor's suggestion about checking the temperature. Have you overclocked the card by any chance?

yoco
08.03.13, 08:32
I didn't check for temp. at that time, but now it shows 60°C.
And it's not overclocked!

accuphase
11.03.13, 13:07
60 C while idle? Or when playing a game? If it's the idle temp then there's definetely something going on with the cooling

Master Razor

I'm not familiar with laptop temperatures but on a dedicated card in a desktop 50 C is not too much. Video cards are supposed to be higher than CPUs.

So, my HD3850 died a few days ago!
Luckily I still had GeForce 4 somewhere so while I was searching for a "new" one I had to go with it. Today I got "new" one (used) and after installing it in my PC I started and first thing I notice is in POST screen memory number is only 65536kb. I didn't do anything, and it finally load the windows, it was slow as hell, seriously like having pentium II. After half an hour of getting nowhere, I decide to restart and go into Bios. There I find this: Total Memory 64MB, DDR2 512/166Mhz (DDR333).
So apparently I only have 64MB of RAM??? How so when I have 1GB?? Anyone can help me out plz??? Don't know what to do!

Try these generic fixes:

move your RAM stick to another slot
download MemTest and do an extended test on your RAM. Caution: it'll take several hours
do a BIOS reset by talking out the motherboard battery. Be sure to leave it at least one minute with the power cord unplugged from the PSU

It is possible that your video card might have caused some damage to your RAM. Hope I'm mistaken.
For the time being try the above and post here what you accomplished.

Too late I'm afraid.
