I was just curious with all of the mods and progs around on here, and thought i'd ask an obvious question lol
does anyone here use a seedbox or have you?
Yeah, I am currently using a seedbox. :)
Yeah, I am currently using a seedbox. :)
Same. Much love to that SB-I member that shared his with me. <3
i'm using a virtual seedbox
nope... once i was about to click on the pay button at whatbox but suddenly changed my mind.

I can recommend a server for seeding too, but haven't tested any preconfigured seed-box.
Its a much better price/value ratio, but you have to know what u are doing.
No I do not, once I realized you have to pay i say forget about it and that is when I discovered cheating
Oh, that's a secret. :shifty:
u could have lied atleast.
anyways wat seedbox u recommend ??

I use seedbox ONLY for ahd.. i love the site and am a very active member there and kind of feel guilty cheating there coz i m good friends wit the mods n sysops :P
I use seedbox ONLY for ahd..
What's preventing you from using it for other trackers, also? Even if it's a cheap, shared 100Mbit with little disk space (which I doubt, since HD material is rather heavy), that's manageable.
Does anyone knows offshore seedboxes you can pay with Ukash or KashU, and on which a vpn serveur or client can be set up ?
I know you can install a OpenVPN server on Feral Hosting's boxes, no idea about the rest.
VEM is a seedbox,right?

yeah.. but its actually not my seedbox.. i share it with a friend who pays for it.. he was kind enuf to let me use it for ahd as he too is a member. And because of that he gives me limited space.. so ahd it is!
I use seedbox .And it's verry good!
I had used my cousin's seed-box before used it just for Waffles and BitME. He shares it depending on his mood ;|
That's a very ironic question to ask from poor small bandwidth users like me, and why use a usebox when SBI's mods are available for free which are a million times more efficient then a seedbox

You can upload 10mb/s on What with a seedbox. You shouldn't try with VEM.
RM is my seedbox! <3
This is my amazing seedbox!

SeedBox use not only thinking of buying. Anyone who uses began to use the torrent. Find it hard to seed files, while even the lowest order of trackers.

I used to have a seedbox about 5 months ago. I don't have one know though, but I have some good buffers so its ok :D
i used it once
it was a gift and when it expired i comeback to RM -the real seedbox- :p
dumb question, what's the benefit or point of a seedbox? the problem i have is not uploading fast enough at some trackers. i see other people uploading really fast when i'm using a fraction of my available bandwidth. i've wanted to install linux on a box just to run libtorrent for possibly faster uploads. is that one of the reasons for a seedbox??

i was considering it at one point, but at this rate highly unlikely. i am in it for the content and not the ratio, rank, userclass, etc. so there is really no real need for me to actually get a seedbox since i will not personally be benefiting from the actual box.
Neon from feralhosting.com.Works great.
well, my machine is pretty much on all time, last restart was 19 days ago, and when I am not using it, I am always seeding, is that good enough for a seedbox ?
If you have a 100Mbit connection at home, then yes!
I have a 10 mbit one.. :(
seedmonster serves my purpose.
I don't need donwload lots of unneed content for ratio, so I never use seedbox.
i have one from pulsedmedia for the first ..and last time
I will be using one soon... using a SheevaPlug :)

their prices are pretty high for low offers (50gb for 15$) , would recommend Santrex.net (https://clients.santrex.net/) . they offer 100gb for 19$ so 50gb for 4$ more than gamestuff :top:
here's a stoopid question coming ur way...what's a seed box? :p

A computer dedicated to file transfer.
Back on topic: I've got a dedicated server running so yeah, I'm using that when I need it - it's on a 100/100 line so joy, oh joy.

A box where to put your seeds on, obviously.

If I could afford a decent seed box I probably wouldn't be spoofing upload ratio.

I've met a few people that owned seedboxes and cheated at the same time. Either the boxes weren't that great, or they missed the thrill of the chase. :idunno:

Hi,
Which of you is using a seedbox, and does it work well.
I use Feralhosting but since a few month, there are more and more incidents and they are often offline.
Which one do you use ?
I am afraid that you came to the wrong place to ask this question. Most of us do not use seedboxes but do pretend to use them - the most economical and green solution!
If a seedbox is serious business for you, it might be better to rent a VPS or dedi, encrypt the disk, and run a torrent client and (properly secured) FTP server on it.
Yes I use a seedbox. Whatbox to be more exact.
They have great speeds, good customer service, and a very nice UI control panel.
Haven't tried Feral, was going to but just haven't had the time. I'm sorry you had bad experiences. I've heard they are very good.

i used a seed box once from ovh, it was very good service 100/100 mbit unlimited, it was some years ago now im sure lots of other companys offer good service too
I use yourseedbox Mini. Its awesome.
Nope, don't have enough money to spend on seedboxes. Once I got one and did amazing buffers on many trackers in one month :).
i used seedboxes before but i don't like spending money on seedboxes.
Pretty essential if u have a crappy home connection. I've had one for a few years but never really use the space or bandwidth limits. Helps with seeding and passing those ghastly tests that pop up every now and then.
Its pretty cool never to have to worry about ratio ever on a tracker!

I want to do something like this, but have no idea how, lol
Anyways i just use the seedbox to get me a buffer, then i just cancel it.
How much would you save renting a vps or dedi? or did you mean serious as in crazy good speeds?

There are tutorials available, but you need some decent previous knowledge of the Linux command-line, and time to get your hands dirty. With "serious", I mean having control over everything and being able to install, change or remove whatever you want on your server, without being limited to a seedbox provider's set of choices. Of course, most normal human beings would rather trade that in exchange for something that works out of the box and doesn't require active maintenance, which is fine :wtongue:
Savings would depend on which provider you go for, of course. You can find a VPS for as little as $2/mo., but the disk space and traffic limits are probably not worth it. A good one might start at $10 a month.

before you start shelling out your hard-earned dough, you could create your own seedbox at home by installating Linux in a virtual machine. since it can take ages to acquire all the knowledge needed to properly understand manage your seedbox, as rightly pointed out by anon, you don't have to pay for a seedbox in the meantime.
I did that and I stopped after 4 hours.
I personally despise command line. we're in 2016, I ain't typing commands no more :icon_angry[1]:
I did enough of that in the early 90's on MS DOS.
Ideally, a dedi running windows would be great but that adds 30+ euros a month. you might as well pay Netflix, Amazon, Hulu for less.

I know a dude who has a seedbox, and all he uses are rutorrent (which is GUI based, not command line), and then he FTPs the files back and forth. So why do you guys talk about a seedbox as if it's something complicated you'll SSH into and use terminal all day long?
I use seedbox for seeding torrents on many trackers. I use filezilla for transferring some of the files which i need to my pc.

There are seedbox scripts to create one with ease, but you still need the knowledge, because if something goes wrong you can't open a support ticket to say your torrent client isn't running.
Also, MS-DOS does not compare to the power of the Unix shell :wtongue:

Hosting providers can't use this CD, they have to pay for the licences :gnoes:

yeah, those are pre-set/prepared seedboxes, ready for usage, no need to install anything or bother with the command line
