Back at Computex we got wind of dual-core Atom for Netbooks and now it looks like its ready to ship the Atom N550. The 1.5 GHz processor with 1MB of cache and support for DDR3 is meant to offer “similar” batter life as the N450. Intel is claiming that the new processor is more responsive which should make netbooks multitasking capable. YouTube & Hulu are also invited to the party and should run seamlessly now on netbooks thanks to the N550. There are a few upcoming netbooks like the ASUS 1015PN (which is also packing NVIDIA ION graphics) will pack the N550 when it hits. Also, we’ve got the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 coming to market even though Lenovo has denied that it was going to be using the chipset. Intel is also proud to announce that it’s shipped over 70 million Atom netbook chips since it started on this crazy ultraportable journey back in 2008.
