well, actually many plugins from the old version have not been ported to 4.x so a few features will change or be left out completely.

the style dösn't matter because our main theme is custom anyway but there will be a few other styles to choose from as well

The current theme looks nice and clean.
These things ( http://www.sb-innovation.de/images/statusicon/forum_old-48.png ) are a little big though.
I know this won't be the final version just saying it would be nice to have an alternative to enlightenment:D

Here's one regarding security of the site

We currently have
username
password

but to increase security why not add an extra
logon name, a name only u will know and not anyone else, apart from of course staff
[username], renamed to screen name
[password], same use

Benefits: An extra secuity step
since SBI doesnt use a "ban after x tries" some malicious tracker or whoever can hack into passwords of some outspoken member whether they be staff or below.
Maybe staff need to input an extra "staff" password in order to gain higher privilleges but this 3rd step doesnt protect other members.

Changing the password often is a good thing but this still leaves the username (screen name) open. If the secret logon name is used it would increase secuity by a lot.

well there's not much sense in hacking accounts here when the reg is open :P
and since we don't log ips even a mod account woudn't be very useful to them

I'm trying to figure out how to read the unread posts. I can see that i have "You Have 86 Unread Posts" but when i click on it just keeps going and going. How do i know which is unread?

Currently we have enlighten yellow with beta status added (you can choose it at the bottom). We're working in the blue version too but we don't know when we can add it.

The only problem of the skin in beta status is the colour of "Forum Rules" button. You can read it because is green. Maybe you can change the color of the Forum Rules button with the Enlighten skin... for the other this skin work ok... I love it, because remember me the skin before the update.

Actually I think one of the reasons why the current forum loads so much faster and better, (ie you dont have to (sometimes) re-re-reload a page because the thanks or rep buttons dont work) is because there is less stuff to load and less load on the servers.

there's a problem with the httpS.. the certificate specifically.
getting this in Opera in 1 out of 4 times I open SBI:

(1) The server's name "www.sb-innovation.de" does not match the certificate's name "confixx". Somebody may be trying to eavesdrop on you.
(2) The certificate for "confixx" is signed by the unknown Certificate Authority "confixx". It is not possible to verify that this is a valid certificate.
(3) The certificate for "confixx" expired 1/13/2010 8:52:00 PM GMT. The webmaster should update the certificate(s).

If you miss the "exclude subforums from new posts list" hack, you can take advantage of vB's "exclude" parameter in the meantime. For example, this link will block a large chunk of the German area:

You can't, but if you don't plan on using it at all, PM Rebound for him to ban you from the shoutbox. That'll make it disappear.

I don't know did someone already reported slightly annoyance that I have as well and which is: This is bilingual board, I have no use of german subforums (especially "Politik & Diskussionen", "Fussball"...) nor they can have use of me. So I disable them in settings to not be shown on my sb-i frontpage. However, when I search for new posts, I get presented german topics as well, which is not desired behavior and it was not case on previous version of forum. So I spend more time now to go throu all unread topics manually reading-skipping the ones written in language I can not communicate in. Which is bothersome.

Just my 2c.

It's a built-in vB feature, although not a full solution - it won't take the posts away from the "You Have X Unread Posts" in the header, nor does it integrate itself with the new posts search like the old one did (unless you make a script that rewrites the HTML code or something).

It's still better than having to dodge the German area threads. They have an insane amount of activity over there :biggrin:

Well,the problem is that rep design didn't have the star and it looked like anon had nearly the same amount of rep as me.:unsure:

iirc it had a star, seeing as anon had one, the problem was that the levels to obtain said star were much much higher than the current system. However, nothing is stopping them from just taking the image files and replacing the current ones with those. (So you'd still have your star and 3 green bars, just with the prettier images).

I don't recall seeing a golden bar, however, that's a half minute photoshop job that anyone can do. Star, green and light green existed for sure since I've seen those.

So in the end that would give current system with a graphic boost...

What Sazzy suggested was to change the graphic of the bars back to the default, since it looked more fitted for the new board layout, if I understood correct.
(But I haven't seen the default bars, so I don't know how it would look.)
Maybe Sazzy could provide us a link of a forum which uses the default layout. :)

the experimental styles are just some sort of filers until the prof. dark styles are implemented
