Do you use servers ?

All we know there isn't never full security on p2p. In the case of eMule there are a lot of fake server and spy server. You can use a good serverlist but in any case nobody know if server log connection and other thing, and they know what file we request ! The question is this... you use servers in eMule or only Kad Network ?

Yes! They provide extra sources, and I use eMuLeecher's server list, so I don't think I have anything to worry about (not to mention my country doesn't care about Internet piracy, either).

I only use Kad because in the past there was several infos that this is better for security !!!

Terrorizer refers the the fact that ur on one less system that can expose expose urself. Less exposure = more safety, but if connect to a "real" server it should be all good.

Kad is unregulated and decentralised so u can get many souces from there without the need for servers but some clients are set to only use servers and therefore it cuts the sources u can get.

The Emule Project should seriously consider a KAD centric client, the servers are cool and all, but no P2P network with central servers has ever survived (and P2P and central servers are contradictory :P). The good thing is they do realize this and are taking steps to boost KAD, but of course, there is a long way from replacing Lugdunum servers with KAD (which is basically something like DHT, same principle).
I have seen the rise and fall of so many popular and great P2P networks that I will really be sadden if that day comes for emule.
Remember Napster, Audiogalaxy, WinMX(still alive). Or DC++ which has turned insanely complicated to use. We don't want that to happen to emule, right?

Almost all servers restrict the number of files allowed to be indexed from any connected user and so restricts the availbility of files, Kad however doesnt have this problem which is much better

I don't use eMule as much as I did before. But when I do I use both servers and Kad.

eMule servers can't really be considered "central" - at their core, they're another way to get sources.

A good way to make your eMule client Kad-centric: right-click on a server, go to "Delete all servers", and then "yes" :lol:

LOL yes but you have a server in the middle, at the "core" of the network.
I tried using KAD only for sometime and boy it was terrible, barely got sources.

Then make sure to use a 0.50 build, they improved its gui and fixed bgs here and there.

I no longer use eMule, but I was usually connected to kad only using ipfilter. The italian media, combined with police that closed some servers, ruined the image of eMule. If you guys tell me servers are secure, I could use it again...but I'm afraid! As anon said "Invulnerable, nope"

eMuLeecher regularly posts a list of safe servers in his thread (http://www.sb-innovation.de/f151/server-met-16382/). Go to the last page to find the newest one. I'd recommend that to every eMule user.

it's rather doubtful if using kad only in emule increases ones security.
emule is basically as dangerous as a public torrent tracker.
personally i try to get porn and newer(less than 2 years old) music and movie releases from private trackers or oc-hosters.

The question is, why would you originally turn to eMule for downloading porn in the first place? That kind of stuff can be found anywhere, and almost everything in eMule is always shared back like hell, so you can't play the "porn will increase my ratio/credits" card. :wgrin:

Yes, most of sources I got is from server ,kad just not working well for me .
