No, it doesn't if you do it right. Grab DOSBox and the DOS version of ADOM, create/load a character, then 'n'ame a random monster (with the N key, lowercase), and here's the important part:

press Backspace several times (this gets rid of the length limitation)
type 32 random characters - whatever you want (1234567890123..., aaaaaaaaaaaaa..., etc.)
type a 33rd character which will determine the new monster type, pick it from the table on that thread I linked to.


Press ENTER, and move elsewhere. You'll see the creature you 'n'amed become whatever it was that you picked in the third step. This is a buffer overflow vulnerability, and in practice could be used to transform very tough monsters into goblins, etc. - the possibilities are endless.

Too bad you're limited to the ones in the table... being able to turn any monster into an elder chaos god would be cool (and somewhat suicidal).
