I love my Windows XP.
I've got to a level that my OS is so customized that it's just perfect for me.
some of the things that helped me were done by this great software called Tweak UI.
it's a Microsoft software that enables you to customize many many features of your Windows XP that you didn't know you can change. ;)
among the other stuff you can change I really liked these features:
Change the number of colums and rows in the Alt+Tab window Remove "Shortcut to.." when creating a shortcut Change you mouse hover time Change the Mouse menu time, double click time and drag time REALLY customize the Start menu: Show or Don't Show Help, Logoff, Recent Documents Use the Classic search in Explorer (Folders and Drives) instead of the heavy useless new WinXP search Select which softwares will not show up in the Most Frequently Used section in Start Menu Select what will show on desktop and ability to disable My Documents, My Computer etc. Delete "Files Stored in This Computer" from My Computer leaving only drives and printers Select what Icons will be displayed in Control Panal! Customize the "New" list (New Folder, New Text Document) and create new "news"! Configure Internet Explorer (don't use it much since don't use IE as browser) make a prefix to a search engine in IE (just like in opera "g stuff" for Google to search "stuff") Customize the Command Prompt Customize the Logon Screen and enable automatic logging in to a specific user Customize the Autoplay when inserting a blank disc

some screens (we all love them )

no "Shared Documents" crap:
