try restarting in safe mode, press f8 when booting,

it should log you on as admin (higher than the one you had with password)

log into it and remove password.

hope that helps :)

Even though you're allowed to post in english in the german area, please create this kind of threads in the english section.

insane, I think that should do unless the Administrator account has a password as well. If so, do a Google search for "Reset Windows Password", and a well-known utility to change/clear passwords outside of Windows should be among the first results. It's supposed to work with 7 as well.

hm.... do you know ophcrack?

What is ophcrack?

Ophcrack is a free Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method. It comes with a Graphical User Interface and runs on multiple platforms.
Features:

* » Runs on Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, ...
* » Cracks LM and NTLM hashes.
* » Free tables available for Windows XP and Vista.
* » Brute-force module for simple passwords.
* » Audit mode and CSV export.
* » Real-time graphs to analyze the passwords.
* » LiveCD available to simplify the cracking.
* » Loads hashes from encrypted SAM recovered from a Windows partition, Vista included.
* » Free and open source software (GPL).

If the pwd is longer he can forget getting it with a bruteforce cracker in this lifetime.

If I remember correctly, there's a much bigger chance of cracking it in a feasible timespan with rainbow tables :biggrin: They're big downloads, though.

Yes surely... but im sure that for a "normal" user it will be useful...

is it not possible to just simply go to your Control Panel and work from there??

If you don't have access to an account with administrator privileges, you can't reset any passwords. Otherwise, it's easy to set a new one. On XP you can do it via My Computer -> Manage, no idea about 7.

I don't have experience with that program, but I know how things stand with cracking wireless networks. Yet I'm not sure of any similarity between encryption that windows 7 uses and wpa2 but I know that strong wpa2 encrypted password can't be cracked in any useful timespan. There has been some recent tryings with utilizing both cpu and gpu to do the work but still you need years for a good pwd to crack.
At least until we get quantum computers for home using. Then we are all screwed hahah.
