Now is time to run your own private tracker for fun and sharing between your friends and buddies!

Lets begin

STEP 1: Download torrentbits from following link

TorrentBits | Get TorrentBits at SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/torrentbits/)

it uses php + mysql to run

STEP 2: Then install Uniform Server

Uniform Server Redirection... (http://miniserver.sourceforge.net/)

Once you have torrentbits setup you've got your own webbased tracker and you friends can register to use it which you can allow or decline and u can see who is leeching and who shares more.

TIPS ON WEB HOSTING

You will require a hosting service that has PHP support, all you have to do is to upload torrentbits to that webhosting space allocated to you,

You may find such services for free from the following link

NOTE: This tutorial assumes that its reader possess basic web hosting skills in following areas

In the process of running your own website, you will encounter a number of challenges and difficulties that will require you to expand your knowledge. Running a successful website requires some knowledge of the following areas:

- FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
- HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol, which is the basis for most web traffic)
- Webservers and webserver software such as Apache or IIS
- HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
- Javascript and PHP/ASP/Coldfusion or similar

If you intend to run a website, you must be prepared to seek out answers by reading books, browsing websites, and following tutorials. You must be prepared to expand your knowledge base to successfully deal with problems that may arise.

I will try to write an elaborate tutorial on setting up own Private tracker very soon, that will target those who possess little knowledge about webhosting and running and maintaining a website, and will be 55% Jargon less. Until then this tutorial target audiences with moderate skills in above-mentioned areas.

Nice, I didn't know about UniServer. However, if you know at least how to get a bare bones tracker up and running, you should add such info. That's the point of this being in the "tutorials" section

That's right ANON, I did'nt elaborated it with details because I assume the reader already possess moderate skills in areas i mentioned above, but I didnt mentioned it earlier, but now the skills required to execute and few tips on free webhosting are also included.

I will write an elaborate tut on this issue if the current tutorial attracts the audiences.
