Making the world's knowledge computable

Today's Wolfram|Alpha is the first step in an ambitious, long-term project to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone. You enter your question or calculation, and Wolfram|Alpha uses its built-in algorithms and growing collection of data to compute the answer. Based on a new kind of knowledge-based computing...

did a few searches and it looks pretty good for a project in its beginning

what imo still needs to be implemented:

- variable changing on the fly, a blank space means * LOL
- diagrams with full descriptions & on the fly data changing & diagram/table manipulation & resizing
- user friendliness
- too slow
- distinguish between alternative data & official data
- moooore links :klatsch_3:
- real sources for computation aren't revealed
- computation on the fly? maybe with cloud computing it could be fast enough
- pulldown-like menus for combining of different related search
- i'm more in favor of a fast software solution, than a web search form
- when it comes to more sensitive & opinion related data, which one will be prefered :frown:
- it will be a loooong way until this 'gets out of beta'

It's different, but isn't the Google-killer that some have hoped for.

WolframAlpha Search Plugin

When I saw WolframAlpha, I knew I was going to have a lot of questions I wanted to ask it. So I made a Firefox search plugin.
