It is similar in the sense that it's a tool and doesn't require you to download the files to your HDD, but is otherwise even more detectable: while the RM can spoof newer clients with our updated release, respects announce intervals, can randomize speeds so that it's harder to detect you, and even makes you appear as connectable at the tracker (if "use TCP listener" is enabled), the PMR is limited to emulating four old BT client versions (ABC 3.01, Azureus 2.5.0.4, uTorrent 1.6.1 and BitComet 0.87; it's possible to emulate other clients by entering the peer_id, User-Agent and key yourself though), announces three times (&event=started, fake upload, &event=stopped) in a minute or two (and you can make it go even faster), and will always fake exactly the same amount of uploaded bytes.

As you can see, it is already really easy to detect by itself, and furthermore, is most of the time used to fake huge upload amounts (GB or TB-sized), so "the PMR works at tracker X" is to be read as "tracker X has no scripts at all".

Yes, I recommend you do so. As yoco said, DDJ's Azureus Hack is an excellent option.

Make sure you are careful that that, and only do it on scene releases.

You can also fake upload as you download the torrent, a bit like with the RM - but can't fake download at the moment.

Yes, those are the risks of using it - so only do it with scene releases or things you can get from other trackers.

Neither on packs, nor anything else that's tracker-specific (for example, a non-scene release of a program at the more relaxed app trackers).

but even, in scene realeases, is it really that safe?

i cant stop thinking that it must be very easy to detect, afterall staff and admins peak at this place, and if they have the software also,.... isint it easier for them to detect it?

It's relatively safe if you:

• have readied a link to other tracker/place where the exact same release can be downloaded,
• let some time pass between the torrent is available at the tracker and you load it with this trick (even if it's available somewhere else, you can't have downloaded a, say, 14GB game in five minutes),
• use it with big swarms with lots of seeds and peers (unless you really have the content and haven't enabled no-upload) - because if the release's torrent has only 1 seeder and you jump on it with this trick, everyone will wonder why they can't download from you,
• and most of all, do it sparingly. It's possible for an honest user to do this too, but not all the time.

I think it's possible for trackers to detect it, but even if they do, you should be safe if again, have a link to another tracker/site where the exact same thing can be grabbed (read the release's name twice and check if it's the same), follow all the above tips, and are careful.
