site: Inspirational and Motivational Quotes | Personal Excellence Quotes
you are already being that (your best self) and living that way (your best life) - what you have right now is the best you can get, under the circumstances and in your current condition (state of mind, level of understanding) - as soon as the circumstances change and your own condition with them, so does your life - and guess what, the above still applies, ie. any and every new condition is still 'the best you can get' under those new circumstances - 'the best you can get' here also means: 'the only thing you can get', ie. there is nothing else you can get under those new circumstancesOriginally Posted by site (sub)title
in other words the following 3 statements are practically equivalent when keeping the above in mind:
(1) be your best self, live your best life
(2) be your worst self, live your worst life
(3) be yourself, live your life
why? because you cannot be anyone else other than yourself (that what you already are) and you cannot live any other life than your own (that what you are currently doing) - your existence is defined as: 'a being' living or experiencing life
however, you may think that you are being something else (not as good as your best self, not living your best life,...) or you may compare different situations & timelines (but those were also dependent on the circumstances at the time, ie. couldn't have resolved themselves in any other way than they did)
some additional details:
(1) is what you may wish in theory, whereas what happens in practice is somewhat different
(2) is what you may wish to avoid in theory, whereas what happens in practice is somewhat different
(3) is what actually happens in practice
compare this to the pillars of duality ( (1) & (2) ) and you may arrive to some interesting conclusions (3)
also, a few comments on those front-page quotes:
the expert quote - it has an unintentional pun with the choice of the background picture, where the mountain climber obviously cannot afford to make every mistake in his field due to occupational hazards (as opposed to the physicist making the quote )
would you dare making the same statement for the opposite (reaching up and pulling them down) too? balancing the heart (between 'stone' & 'gold') maybe?Originally Posted by site
2nd part is nice, but sometimes it is necessary to be paralyzed in the process of discovery, ie. paralysis itself is not a problem, its simply a part of the process - this process is individual and varies from person to person (proof: everyone has a somewhat different life to live)Originally Posted by site
complaining is also acting (the act of complaining)Originally Posted by site
can you just forget about something you encountered? might be a bit hard or might take a while
in other words, you probably won't forget and you certainly will act, 'the complaining' itself is not relevant in terms of whether the other two will happen or not, it represents the way you feel about the task/challenge/situation or may simply be an initial reaction to something unexpected
is it silly to complain? depends on the situation - how about complaining about the quote?
what he probably meant was: 'annoying', especially to the listener or the target of the complaint - ie. stfu (and do what you're told) or gtfo hehe
note:
seems the first front quote changes from time to time, so here's the expert quote in full:

This post was not written at random. I've been searching the net and everything beeing said about porn fits like a glove.
Beside the link above, a new site chanllenges the problem. Most important factors are:
I've been feeling it for 2 years but I feel like I can't take it anymore. More and more depressed and no statisfaction whatsoever. I'm always tired, even after I sleep 8-10 hours. You find yourself developing fetishes and sexual thoughts regarding matters you would not have encountered without internet porn.
You have a decreased libido, you are depressed, fatigue, experience low energy levels and have no satisfaction in life.
I'm pretty sure the god-damned porn is the blame for this. Even after eliminating all possible causes, porn is all that remains.
I need help man. How to get rid of porn addiction?
"I just remembered something that happened a long time ago."
its a good & effective advice (aka cold turkey), why deleting it?Originally Posted by Sazzy

well, pr0n addiction is similar to any other addiction (their differences are merely variations on the theme):Originally Posted by Master Razor
- the way to handle potential addictions (ones that currently aren't manifested too strongly) is via moderation, moderate usage
- the way to combat heavier addictions (ones that feel like a heavy burden ruining your life) is usually a combination of strong will (strong decision to quit) & abstinence (significantly lowering the dosage or cold-turkey tactics), occasionally monitoring time passed since the last usage (monitoring your progress) and eventually forgetting to monitor as the addiction becomes a thing of the past
- overcoming one addiction doesn't necessarily mean you won't relapse or get another one instead, it simply means you managed to go through the process, learning some lessons that will help you along the way, not only when facing other potential addictions but also with numerous other things, one of them being: a better understanding of the 'nature of existence'
also, you're not alone, every single human being is more or less addicted to at least a few things like:
- some favorite type of food/drink/clothing/brand/...
- some favorite kind of entertainment/habit/activity/lifestyle/internet/...
- work/hobbies/job/money/family/...
- perhaps also to some of the more discussed addictions like pr0n, sex, smoking, alcohol, drugs, medications,...
...
and maybe some other things like 'raping the quotes'
and some unexpected things like:
- the human body (up to the point where a human being thinks of himself as 'the body')
- our senses & the mind are also addictive per default (their barrage of impulses overwhelming our perception of reality, creating the 'matrix of the senses')
- even life itself becomes an addiction (proof: people are so desperate to 'live another day' even when they are elderly, people crying rivers of tears after someone dies even though its a perfectly normal/natural event)
so, in a way even things like addiction are normal (!), though some of them will be harsher than others, requiring more effort to overcome and may take a while to loosen up their grip - addiction itself is simply a psychological illusion, where a person erroneously believes he/she cannot exist or live without certain things (as mentioned above)
more fundamentally, i'll use a quote from my previous post, replacing 'paralyzed' with 'addicted':
(0) in other words, a sure way to overcome any and every addiction is to simply 'live your life' and they will slowly but surely vanish one after another, just like all illusory things eventually do (or will) - it kinda boggles the mind, but yes, its that simple - you just have to ride it out, which is what you are currently doing and which is what will eventually happen anywaysOriginally Posted by myself
the short(er) and more practical answer:
(1) take some time off (an hour a day or more)
(2) take a deep breath, relax, meditate a little (clears the mind - silent places preferred)
(3) do whatever you think is necessary (things like: searching, posting on sbi, applying Sazzy's advice,...), ie. use your intelligence
(4) don't worry about the outcome no matter what happens (if you feel you need to change something in the process, change it)
(5) laugh at the 'silly rabbit' (your frightened self) afterwards or during the process and remember not to worry again, ever, no matter what happens, ok?
as far as i can tell, of these 5 steps, you are currently applying number (3) - i'd say you can do better than that
also, if i may shamelessly add: these 5 steps may serve as a universal pattern to solve any and every kind of problem you may encounter in your entire life... not bad huh?
notes:
- if your results are still unsatisfactory: remember that thats the best you could do under the circumstances and with your current level of understanding - when you become able to do more, you will (do more)
- how not to worry? keep telling yourself: 'why are you worrying again? it'll be fine' - positive thinking or optimism, right?
- how long does it take? unknown & irrelevant, as long as it takes, simply repeat the process, don't force it
- whats so important about: meditation (clears the mind, ancient beneficial practice), using your intelligence (should be self-explanatory), not worrying and being positive or optimistic (if you worry then you are in the wrong mood and distracted from that what you should be doing, the 5 steps), laughter (its healthy, takes the edge off, you want to have some fun while you're living, no? so how about some fun while you solve problems)
- anyone can do it, no special requirements needed
- so what do you do if you face things like: cancer, hiv, terminal illness, imminent execution, death, disasters, t3rr0rists, illuminati, evil devils, monsters, ghosts, aliens, hollywood brainwashing, divine wrath, doomsday, and the like? those 5 steps above
- any other questions? use the bold parts
to summarize, two approaches to any and every kind of problem and life in general may be singled out:
- the slower one for more passive/distracted people: the zero-step program (0): simply live your life
- the faster one for more active/interested people: the 5-step program (1)-(5): simply live your life with a more goal-oriented approach
the best part? everybody wins in the end - thats what i would call an intelligently designed or structured universe
one more thing:
- what about people that might try inverting the programs (you know, like christ & anti-christ)? they would also end up in the zero-step program (0), which is all-encompassing (simply because everyone is living a life hehe)

I suddenly felt like i was being too harsh/insensitive about things that aren't really any of my business.
I'm kind of a bitch and try not to be
What? How? Why?
A GF won't make you happy. It might, for a little while. But a GF won't be _the_ reason you're either happy or unhappy.
You need to find something that makes you happy rather than trying to focus on why you are unhappy. Obsessing on how unhappy you are, truly makes you unhappy.
I've recently decided I'm starting to live my life for me and do what I want, rather than try to please other people. I've lost some friends due to this decision but I'm a lot happier ever since.

Razor: an approach that might help you is thinking "I don't have to quit porn forever. I just need to do it for today".
"I just remembered something that happened a long time ago."
