Hawkscope | Access your HDD through a tray menu

Hawkscope is a productivity tool that allows you to access your hard drive contents quickly via system tray / menubar icon with dynamic pop-up menu.

interesting, but it looks like it just does the same job as going to Start menu for some items like one's browser, for example.

I like the one pic that it has for Linux. The GUI for that just looks so much nicer than the one for Windows.

everything seems to look nicer in a Linux OS than in Win.

    Even the desktops.

Nevertheless, I do like the built-in plugin that I see on thier Plug-ins page that has the 'open with...".

I see that there's also a Gmail checker, too. Thats nice. Though don't you think that having such a plug-in as a Gmail checker might take some resources away from the computer?? I would tend to think so.

That kinda reminds of this gmail checker extension for FF that I had once. It was nice, but like all extensions with FF, if you just have too many, it just takes too long to load. Also, I think I recall FF just moving along just a bit slower with that extension while browsing.

IDK...my FF is slow. That's most likely b/c I just don't have too much RAM on my machine. It's old. ..even after having tweaked it numerous times.

    Oh, oh. Better use LINUX.

Or enabling the Desktop toolbar in your taskbar and browsing your files Either way, I stumbled upon this today and thought it may come useful for some.

Well, yes, I think all running programs and addons slow down your computer to some degree...

Perhaps you can try one more time?

If your HDD is fast, a bigger pagefile may also help.
