    My heart always goes with mozilla thunderbird eventho outlook for windows 10 is great, but outlook notifications of email is always late. i hate that.

    Mailspring's UI is open source (GPLv3) and written in TypeScript with Electron and React
    Maybe I'm looking at things the wrong way, but Electron is just a cheap way to turn a browser-based application into a desktop program using a minified version of Chrome (with the memory usage that entails).

    https://www.mailpile.is/ seems better in that regard... unfortunately it's Linux-only at the moment
