I like it when every now and then I see those "if you remember this you're really old" photomontages with screenshots of Windows 98, Internet Explorer 4, Kazaa, et cetera... and Winamp 2.x. What do you mean remember, I'm using it right now.

Stats would be much higher, but for many years I didn't even know this was recorded and didn't back it up before reinstalling Windows.

The Internet is a dynamic landscape where the rules of the game are subject to change, and this is pretty noticeable when money is involved. When Megaupload was shut down four years ago, a lot of file hosts decided it was no longer a good idea to have a rewards program - or to keep existing at all. Last year, BillionUploads was doing alright and had good payouts, until they shut down without a warning. Bux.to and other pay-to-click sites have been scamming people since forever, and there was a time when Web advertising was charged per view, not per click.

Anyway, will we soon have to add KAT to our lists? It remains to be seen.

Me too, I didn't think I'll miss it so much. Good thing I actually have around 100 movie torrent files I already loaded on my torrent program and they still connect to some trackers to get me the data. I liked the interface and the community, it was like a good dive bar on an Island in the middle of nowhere for us pirates, arrrr

    IsoHunt launches unofficial KAT mirror
That didn’t take long: IsoHunt already has a working KickassTorrent mirror

It doesn't have all the torrents and there are no forums, but it's something, and what it represents is also important.

It's funny how IsoHunt always stayed safe no matter what. Whatever those guys are doing, they're doing it correctly, and it's worth learning from.

I just checked and Fileserve.com is still alive on 2016 (and still doesn't allow file sharing). Unless they're running the site on a $10/mo. VPS, this is surprising! All the other hosts had to shut down due to a lack of traffic, and thus income.
