What's wrong with a thread being too long? I presume there's a performance hit, but never bothered to look up the specifics.

It seems the only way to make Windows 9x use more than 1 GB of RAM is a commercial patch costing $20. I guess that wasn't a concern in 1995...
Also, new spam thread, new avatar.

Yoco beat me to it. I wasn't the last member to post, damn.
You better give up on that '95. It is possible to make it work even on never quad-core PCs but in no way is the effort worth it.
If you look closely on MSFN, they use latest versions of MS Office and Firefox/Opera which are next to impossible without massive updating the OS. Forcefully, that is...
It is fun, yes, and I did it in 2010 but that was it. I ended up deleting the OS.

It would all have been for fun mostly (snatching and having to try updates being part of that ), with the side effect of maybe having a system that's actually usable. But being limited to 25% of available memory is a killjoy, I already had enough of that with Intel's buggy drivers.
I guess you're right, there isn't really any point to this, already knowing what '95 is like, and not having any software or hardware that's not compatible with 7.
Windows 98 was what the very first computer in this household had, a Compaq Presario 7360.

Its JBL speakers are the ones I'm using to this day.

Hey yoco,
Spoiler sad:
Show respect to all people, but grovel to none
At least it was new enough not to have a keyboard lock and turbo button.
The fun we had with that computer, Win98 and dial-up Internet. Now it's been inside a box collecting dust for a long time now. Nowadays these motherboards sell for less than 10 USD online, processor and RAM included (not going to buy any though, I had enough with the Compaq laptop).

And of course, congratulations to yoco for surviving yet another year.
I was going to post yesterday, but the forum went down and remained so until just now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOCO!! May all your wishes come true.
I know it is a bit late but I couldn't reply sooner.
Win 95 was my first OS too. But was quickly swapped for Win 98 which was way more stable. What are you running !on it? I remember playing good old games like first versions of Doom, Age of Empires, Quake, Worms... Encarta 98!!!
