Just got myself a Compaq Presario 1245 Notebook. After all, why should anon have all the fun?
Now, it has 32MB RAM. What am i gonna do with it?

This article elaborates on ten possible tasks for very old hardware like yours - in this specific case, a Pentium 133. It's in Spanish, but in case you can't be bothered to run it throughGoogle'san online translator, here's a summary of possibilities:
1. firewall, if it has or you can add an Ethernet NIC.
2. music player, Winamp 2.95 can do it
3. digital portrait, but that feels a bit like a waste for me.
4. basic text processing/note taking/office work
5. point of sale/cash register if you run a shop.
6. leechbox, if you hook an external hard drive to it.
7. very light surfing/e-mail.
8. Linux time as Blocker said earlier in this thread.
9. overclocking practice(?)
10. emulation. NES, arcade or other old ROMs should have no problem running under such a system.
PS: I still haven't done anything with my old laptop.
PPS: what if I could travel to the past when these Compaqs were manufactured with my current, Windows 7 netbook? I would be a god (Or maybe not, since it doesn't have a 56K modem )

@slikrapid
I remember everything I said and can do that. I never gave stupid advice; my two cents are based on facts. We can ask anon if he though my advice was idiotic. Wonder what he'll say...
I got it for free from some guys I helped out but I requested it for one reason only: to be able to write my thesis at work. I have some free time over there so why not?
I am concerned for its internal memory which is 32 MB. I never in my life had to work with such a low amount. I'm thinking not even windows is good for it. I'll have to install a light distro of linux.

I don't think that's what he meant.
Windows 95 can run with 4 MB of RAM. If you're only going to use it for writing, you don't need much more than that. Make sure you get a copy of 95b OSR 2.1, as newer versions include the IE shell, wasting precious megabytes with fluff. Then you can install Office 97, or use Wordpad or even Notepad to write.I got it for free from some guys I helped out but I requested it for one reason only: to be able to write my thesis at work. This guy is a fan of Windows 95 and you can find a ton of stuff for it there, there's even a USB mass storage driver.
