Clint Eastwood's film Gran Torino was a pretty decent film. I liked it. I think even this film might be well directed by him too. Not only was he a good western actor (among other genres of his films), but also a good director.
    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

John Milton (1608-1674) in Paradise Lost

Clint Eastwood looks to be planning a return to acting with "Trouble with the Curve,"
they just don't know when to quit, do they? clint is like 82 years old, seems acting for him is just too rooted/alluring/habitual/ego-pleasing to let it go

as a side note, he was very 'skilled' at choosing movies to act/direct in, so he got an impressive/good score when judging the number of quality or entertaining movies or roles

as for this movie, seems its going to be very similar to gran torino (same type of character/role) or million dollar baby (similar theme/scenario and co-actress type of role), with plenty of familiar faces as the primary supporting cast, which might sound or look good, however i'm more inclined to predict its going to end up as a half-baked rehash depending heavily on the main cast ability to carry it without sliding into the overly melodramatic/cliched/long-drawn/tedious/strained area of the spectrum - both of the aforementioned movies were barely managing to balance it out, leaving a sense of lacking satisfaction with the outcome, million dollar baby mostly regarding its pacing/attitude, gran torino even more so regarding the main character behavior or his superiority over the others, not to mention how both tried too hard to deliver their moral of the story (or messages)

for essential or very good eastwood movies see:

    Hereafter (2010) director only
    Million Dollar Baby (2004)
    Blood Work (2002)
    Space Cowboys (2000)
    Absolute Power (1997)
The Bridges of Madison County (1995)
    Unforgiven (1992)
    White Hunter Black Heart (1990)
    Heartbreak Ridge (1986)
    Pale Rider (1985)
    Firefox (1982)
    Escape from Alcatraz (1979)
    The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)

    Where Eagles Dare (1968)
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)
For a Few Dollars More (1965)
