Thread: Other ways to get your music except private trackers v2

  1. #106
Great list you have there, SBfreak. Firefox addons exist to download streams, which you can rip the audio off too. Sometimes you need to go to such extents for super rare stuff.

    Cheers.

Apparently my country is in the list of those where Grooveshark is no longer free, so bye bye ripping...

Grooveshark will let me listen for like 10 minutes and then stop music and say I have to pay or donate because of mermaids or something.
A nice alternative should show up pretty soon.

Hopefully. Grooveshark was the best free streaming service. The music collection was great, music downloaded fast, they had radio mode to let you find similar songs...

Since GS became unreliable, I'm mostly using Google (search for "trackname.mp3") or Ares. The latter also used to be nice, but now downloads won't start half the time even with ports forwarded and a stable connection to the network, not to mention the fakes. Search for craplsskdkd1023lolwut and you'll get tons of "craplsskdkd1023lolwut [LIVE VERSION].wma". It's turning into Limewire.

I was thinking maybe using Google music again to store all my songs but then I realized I've actually pirated every track I have.Is there a way they can tell the difference ?

I know several people already mentioned this, but... I'm quite impressed with The Pirate Bay. I've found 320kbps albums from several pretty unknown bands like Myrath, Devil Doll and Two Steps from Hell. And with enough seeders. I used to download my albums from Warez-BB.org, but I can hardly find online links now. But I'm trying to move to lossless now, and TPB has proven not to be a good source of it. For underground bands I mean.
