Look how far technology has come in the last 20 years....
Computer technology (a lot of things available now might not be widely available, but the extremes never are):
- Mono speaker to dolby digital surround sound with HD audio
- Vinyl/records to bluray discs
- Bulky screens with small displays to flat screens with displays up to 3 or 4 times bigger
- First computers using mouse and keyboard input to today's touch screen capability (touch screen always has me thinking of star trek)
- Wired to wireless
- Internet speeds from 14.4k - 28.8k to 1gbit (yes the internet is fairly modern so i guess taking it from it's birth isn't fair, the fact the internet is at all possible is just amazing)
- Corded phone to cordless phone to mobile/cell phone
- Logistical minitaurization of personal computers means they take up A LOT LESS space now (the invention of laptops!)
- Invention of USB sticks/pen drives
- HDD capacity from less than 1GB to now 4TB
- IDE to eSata
- HDD to SSD
How is this picture going to look in the next 20 years?!?! It makes you wonder... are we really developing our own technology that quickly, or are we reverse engineering alien crap? (conspiracy theory I know) but the rate of our development doubled with rabid social tension in an increasingly overpopulated and inequal world doesn't make much logical sense to me.
