Quake sped up Earth's rotation and tilted the axis by 25 cms

Quake sped up Earth's rotation | Seattle Times Newspaper

The day the earth really did move: How the Japanese earthquake tilted the world's axis by 25cm | Mail Online

    ---------

LOS ANGELES — The earthquake that struck Friday off the coast of Japan was so strong it moved the island of Honshu 8 feet to the east and sped up the Earth's rotation by 1.6 microseconds, making the day just a little shorter, scientists said. A microsecond is one-millionth of a second.

A preliminary study by the Italian Institute of Geology and Volcanology indicate the quake may have shifted the Earth's rotation axis by 3.937 inches, said Antonio Piersanti, researcher of the Rome-based institute, in an e-mailed statement Friday.

Earthquakes can involve shifting rock by several meters, changing the distribution of mass on the planet. This affects the Earth's rotation, said Richard Gross, a geophysicist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Hmm no wonder things kept falling of my desk today...

All jokes aside,I've read many articles and books that say that even the slightest changes to Earth's rotation or axial tilt can have huge implications on the future generations.
Reports like these are quite scary to read.

displacement of a such minor magnitude? not really, no one can even sense that - but if it were to happen continuously many times in a short period of time in a roughly similar direction, then it likely would, probably like some sort of a climate & environmental change, meaning it would have (slightly) different characteristics than before with some accompanying global natural disasters (the larger the displacement, the greater their magnitude) until a new stable position is reached

on the other hand, some are saying a major axis-tilt happened to earth more than 10,000 years ago due to major (possibly also artificial) cataclysmic events that, combined with the after-effects of the abrupt shift, almost wiped out previous civilizations, stabilizing itself at roughly the current (tilted) position, but this is a quite controversial matter with virtually no mainstream support

    Yes.
    Absolutely.
As a matter of fact, time is now the very first time in world history, physically forwarded by 25 cm.
For example, the new time standards for reporting time to your neighbors, to your co-workers, and also to your friends, is now counted as the following ( example only)

Some guy across the street: Hello. Could you tell me what time it is?

    Me:Yes.
    Most certainly, I could.
It is 12: 34 PM by 25 cm.

This I can believe via meteorites having collided with earth in it's pre-history. Such bombardment, maybe a heavy bombardment may have caused an artificial shift that resulted the earth to be in it's current tilt. Such an event may have also wiped out or severely reduced to a limited number, various species of animals and maybe even to some extent, though historical records don't document that far, early human tribal inhabitants.
