    Facebook games!!!

Hey guys! So my sister is on FB and she's playing games, Cityville and one other, I think it's called Millionare city or something, not sure. Anyway, since I'm not on FB I don't know much about it, but what I wanted to ask about these games is why do they lag so much, the CPU goes all the way to 100%??? The only reason I'm making this thread is 'cuz my friend was at my place a few hours ago and she went on her FB page and the same game she's playing as my sister and she said that the game is running faster on her PC, which is completely ridicules, since her PC is like ten times older than mine. Anyway my PC specs are Athlon XP 3200+, 1GB ram, Radeon HD3850. And I use FF.

Flash applets on high quality are a recipe for high CPU usage. Maybe your friend's setting the game's quality to "low" and that's why it works fine on her computer, regardless of its age.

Also it might be due to lack of Broadband speed the games takes time to reload/refresh.

Well my mistake couldn't understand, though it's good since I found this ad-don for FireFox : Low Quality Flash

I had the same problem once. Flash games seems to lag and I just couldn't believe it since I can play COD4 - COD6 with no problems but my two sisters are getting pissed off with my PCs performance. I did some reading and though I'm still not sure about this, I think Flash won't use your GPU to accelerate graphics rendering thus explaining the high amount of activity on the CPU. After reading that, I've isolated the cause of the problem to my CPU and cleaning it (and having a proper amount of thermal paste applied) did the trick. The only problem I have now is that my sisters do play a lot more and it just annoys me.

Gonna try it today and see the result.

So there's no way to make it use my GPU?

Yeah, it's cool, I was just curious about why you'd think that. I wish there was an addon like that for Opera, many applets don't let you change the quality level via right-click.

Surprisingly I once also got decreased CPU usage after cleaning my cooler, although that should at most decrease its temperature, in theory.

Supposedly everything after Flash 10.1 and the betas uses or can use the GPU. I see an option to use "hardware acceleration" in the settings, and it's ticked. Flash on high quality still demands a lot of processing power, however...
