This is getting off topic but I couldn't help posting :
Another 'coincidence' comes from the movie Dances With Wolves (1990): a cow boy (or whatever you call the people who fought the Red Indians in America) changes and becomes a Red Indian and he fights his own people. How similar it is to Avatar.

there may be dozens (upon dozens) of similar or even largely identical themes, just wrapped up in another package and sold/claimed as being original ideas, without even acknowledging the previous authors or influences, but as it can be seen in this thread alone, these things don't go unnoticed afterallWow, there are more coincidences ?
I have always known of the coincidences more as in the major media not so with the independence movies.
Looking forward to seeing this one, anything with Ben in can't be bad lol
Really enjoyed Gone Baby Gone, so have high hopes for this one.
Gone baby Gone was a great movie...The Town ? mmmm, can't really put my finger on it but it sure lacked something...the characters were good but the story was a bit rushed and after all the hype i was expecting a darker Ocean's 11 type of plot not some "thugs robbing banks the old way" implausible story. I've read somewhere that the initial cut was like 3, 3.5 hours long and had a different ending...maybe that cut is more satisfactory, but this one is very "you've seen the trailer, you've seen the whole movie" predictable
