    Limitless

    Limitless

    Release Date: March 18, 2011
    Studio: Relativity Media
    Director: Neil Burger
    Screenwriter: Leslie Dixon
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Abbie Cornish, Anna Friel, Tomas Arana
    Genre: Action, Thriller

    Plot Summary:
Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro star in "Limitless," an action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination.

Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra's (Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future. That all vanishes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to MDT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive.

Now on an MDT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie's read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him. As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions.

But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent. With a dwindling stash and hit men who will eliminate him to get the MDT, Eddie must stay wired long enough to elude capture and fulfill his destiny. If he can't, he will become just another victim who thought he'd found invincibility in a bottle

a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his mind. As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself,
we should be aware by now that no pharma product will manage to reach such a level or bring any kind of 'perfection', even worse, their products tend to have more damaging effects than benefits, thus using them would not be recommended except in critical situations, furthermore, there are claims that we already use our full body potential, including that of our brain (ie. its already working at ~100%, not 10-20% as popularly thought), the difference is in the way we use this potential (inefficient ways, lack of concentration, habits instead of experience) - some say that our body is already perfect, per default, one just has to learn how to use it (better)

As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination.
now we get a little eugenics 'spice' added, what they forgot to mention is that such forces would fist try to use/recruit him for their own purposes/goals and only if that failed the aforementioned scenario would be believable

Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra's (Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future.
its interesting how the script-writers love to use desperate/failed/weak characters and then transform them into super-human ones, as if they are obsessed with contrasts/dialectics

a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive.
so the question arises, would you like to live as a robot?
also, notice how the trailer looks like a pharma product commercial

Now on an MDT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie's read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him.
it can already be done without additional drugs, its called 'photographic memory'

As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions.

But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent. With a dwindling stash and hit men who will eliminate him to get the MDT,
again, this doesn't make sense - if his adversaries are so powerful they would go to the source (the pharma company) and negotiate with its owners for a deal that has mutual benefits - then together they would use him as a guinea-pig to test the substance and create lesser versions of the drug for the public and more potent ones for special purposes (assassins, brokers, advisers, etc.)

Eddie must stay wired long enough to elude capture and fulfill his destiny. If he can't, he will become just another victim who thought he'd found invincibility in a bottle
did anyone doubt they wouldn't forget to ride the 'destiny' lie here as well - generally speaking, there is no destiny, there is a plethora of actions/reactions/influences/effects/intents/... combined in a massive interconnected and interacting 'system' - these are influencing you and you are influencing them as well, those with a deeper understanding of the system (and skill) will be able to go farther or avoid the obstacles easier, its that simple - when someone says its his destiny to become something, they are simply focusing their intent & efforts towards that cause, using their will to 'clear the way', ie. its their own efforts that make this goal achievable, not some illusion called 'destiny', but naturally, don't expect the entertainment industry to explain it clearly, thats not why they are here in the first place

as for the movie itself, it could be interesting, though with all that embedded propaganda it won't be easy

With a cast of Robert De Niro Abbie Cornish, Anna Friel, the adaptation of Alan Glynn's book The Dark Fields written by screenwriter Leslie Dixon (Hairspray) and is directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist - excellent), is chilling. He has a certain face of Jacob's Ladder, which incidentally is sensational.

With Neil Burger directing and such an interesting plot, it should be pretty good. Robert De Niro makes it a must see film for me.
