I have one myself, and I can tell most games are working, but you need at least one original game.

Some media formats can't be played yet, but a Media Center with MKV and NTFS Support is in the works.

do you have a link for this media player project?
would be interesting to learn more about it, coz the official xbmc people say it's too much work and they are not interested in doing it.

Well, first you need to install a CFW on your PS3 with Backup Support, ie kmaew (Preferred) or Waninkoko v2.
Then install a Backup Manager like Gaia and upload your games via FTP (Gaia has a build in server).
To play a Backup you have to run the Backup Manager and select the game, it then takes you back to the XMB where you can launch the game using the disc icon (you need an original PS3 in drive for it to appear).

I'm not entirely sure but I think the latest version of kmeaw CFW doesn't require you to have a Blu-ray on the PS3 nor does it require you to recurringly run the lv2.pkg file (in the newer version of Gaia Manager). Also the FTP program shouldn't be necessary in case you are using an external HDD

well, in kmeaw you need a blue-ray disc in the ps3 in order to play :)
i think only wanikoko cfw support that (not in all the games)
also there is some games who dont run from external so you should use internal = FTP

Yes, that's true but I'm just saying that I haven't had problems with any game till now and I've tested some (about the internal/external HDD games) but let's see...

    Fingers crossed

So you have to execute the lv2.pkg everytime you start your PS3? I think Gaia does that automatically

    Is your CFW 3.55?

when i was suing gaia i was facing so many freezes so i turned to multiman
multiman dont have the option to patch automatically cuz it cause problemes so you need to run the lv2 patcher then multiman
so far im using this method, everything works great

    kmeaw cfw :)
