interestingly, tea is the local traditional beverage in middle-far eastern countries, originating from somewhere between china and india, yet the english pronunciation has been distorted from the original (hindi=chai, persian=chai, mandarin=cha)Hey since we are traveling the world ,Why don't we stop at for a cup of tea and some awesome Oriental Music...
seems a similar confusion exists with the term orient(al), which may include eastern (middle-far) countries, or just the middle-eastern ones

well, these folk influences do originate from asia (correctly: mostly from west and less from south & east asia) and it may be said that they are rather similar to the majority of islamist (or arabic/persian/...) traditional folk music, whose influence affected the israeli folk sound as well (though the latter has been more successful in commercializing its music and leaving the field free from aggressive religious restrictions) as these people have similar originsThis genre is not asian but its more about the local flavors and influences (be it jewish/hebrew/indian) incorporated into the music
