    The Freebie

Release Date: September 17, 2010 (NY)
    Studio: Phase 4 Films
    Director: Katie Aselton
    Screenwriter: Katie Aselton
Starring: Dax Shepard, Katie Aselton, Bellamy Young, Ross Partridg, Sean Nelson
    Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
"The Freebie" centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other's company and laugh at each other's jokes, but, unfortunately, they can't remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a "freebie" be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton's directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. "The Freebie" is an insightful and humorous look at love, sustaining relationships, and the awkwardness of monogamy when the haze of lust has faded.

looks like another movie in a long line attempting to invade/erode the traditional family values, this time its about having a one night stand (aka freebie, as if other single people are just waiting in line to catch someone that is married, but ready for a little cheating), playing with monogamy as if it were an obsolete/outdated habit without much significance, trying to find a way to rationalize their flirting with promiscuity

seems that these two are still not grown up adults, that rushed into marriage for some reason and got bored with each other quite early in their relationship, furthermore, they couldn't discuss it between themselves and instead needed another couple (as opposed to psychological sessions) to get some clues or encouragement for their ideas - quite immature, but also a sign of the times (with a 'helping' hand from the entertainment industry and their desire to shape the lives of the viewers & the culture/cultural habits of the society)
