Life seems perfect for John Brennan until his wife, Lara, is arrested for a gruesome murder she says she didn't commit. Three years into her sentence, John is struggling to hold his family together, raising their son and teaching at college while he pursues every means available to prove her innocence. With the rejection of their final appeal, Lara becomes suicidal and John decides there is only one possible, bearable solution: to break his wife out of prison. Refusing to be deterred by impossible odds or his own inexperience, John devises an elaborate escape plot and plunges into a dangerous and unfamiliar world, ultimately risking everything for the woman he loves.

looks like crowe's character has watched too many prison break movies and his wife not enough as she would know how to use a spoon

but then again he is a multitasking teacher, able to find a person who already successfully escaped (the authorities probably just forgot about that guy), devise an elaborate escape plan (putting to shame even the famous michael 'the ink decipherer'), raise his kid (to be a good law abiding citizen of course) & teach at college (not even taking a leave of absence, as there is plenty of time left to practice the escape, learn how to use a gun, look & talk tough and visit the homies in the underground, know i mean? keep it real, aaaait)

yeah, he failed to prove his wife is innocent cuz the case was real solid and all, but lets not split hairs here, the professor could use some action, instead of searching for evidence through dumpsters and whatnot, though he could have simply placed an order to any of the numerous CSI's (as they would looove to get their hands on/in those dumpsters), and be done with it in a day or less, but that would just ruin such an awesome plot

naturally, his plan works only up to the point when he has to leave the premises, after which the whole police squad goes ape trying to catch the gruesome suicidal killer at large & the escape mastermind Professor-G (G for gangsta), dead or alive, chasing them all over the town causing massive damage & numerous casualties - luckily for the viewers, the professor forgot to ask the previous escapist where to hide after the escape, so we are left to anxiously await the undoubtedly exciting finale
