To many updates or not you have right to update it as frequently as you wish.
Newest releases thanks to media player classic home cinema gave many windows seven taskbar options and small bug fixes. It is just information so you are given the opportunity to do what you think is right. IT environment is changing insanely fast.

That's true. But the problem I find is that in the past, when I kept up with updates, some updates were worse than before, and this wasn't obvious till the update was actually done.

K-Lite Codec Pack 5.8.6 Full Beta

    Changelog:
    * Updated Media Player Classic Home Cinema to version 1.3.1768.0
    * Updated ffdshow to revision 3333
    * Updated Codec Tweak Tool to version 4.2.3
    * Changed default video renderer in MPC-HC from "EVR Sync" to "EVR Custom Presenter" on Windows Vista/7
    * Minor changes
    Download beta:
K-Lite Codec Pack - Beta versions

Few words on K-Lite Codec Pack:

    * Mega and Full releases are similar. Mega has Real player included, which is rarely used(it is not popular anymore so Full seems better choice) Full releases are more frequent and if you like betas Full is definitely for you(Betas are only Full editions).

    * 5.8.3 releases and above contain Media Player Classic Home Cinema with slightly refreshed GUI(many people hated MPC for ugliness and vintage GUI).

There are solid reasons to use Kazaa Lite Codec Pack to decode HD videos H.264 and VC-1 with your graphic card and DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA). It is useful especially for older computers and weak CPUs.

It is possible to use portable packs but it will take large amount of time. KLCP give you these by default...

If for any reason to use K-lite codec instead of Ace mega codec i would do it just for the reason it hasnt been updated since 21 Dec 2004

saebrtooth is quite right the newer codecs usually provide performance and quality, vista, 7 32 and 64bit compatibility.

its true. ace mega codec pack isnt updated..from along time..i know i also have both codecs pack in my pc...i m just telling coz if you go for advanced install on that software you can make about alot things in pc..all the things you have either vlc player or kmplayer or gom player..they also didnt take that much space..

    its between choosing..good. & better..

k lite is updating everyday or every week as u can see..alot of users dont have time to update it..(i dont have either)

as u can see it gives you default thing but you also have to keep the old k lite codec pack's software ..so it will do the equal needs as ace mega codecs pack..
i experience it thats why..i can say..

    K-Lite Codec Pack 6.0.0

No updates from earlier versions can be made. Just uninstall old and install new is the option.
    Also note:
If you get a RegSvr32 error during installation, then click on Ignore. Install Visual C++ 2005 Redist (x86) and then run the codec pack installer again. This issue will be fixed in next version
Changelog for K-Lite Codec Pack Full 6.0.0:
    # Updated Media Player Classic Home Cinema to version 1.3.1959
    # Updated ffdshow to revision 3461
    # Updated Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder to version 8.4.0.1408
    # Updated DivX H.264 decoder to version 1.2.1 (build 9.0.1.21)
    # Removed Gabest MPEG-2 decoder
    # Added VP8 decoder
    # Updated Haali Media Splitter to version 1.10.175.0
    # Removed DirectVobSub 2.33. Use the Mega pack if you need this old version.
    # Updated Codec Tweak Tool to version 4.4.0
    # Updated MediaInfo Lite to version 0.7.33
    # Updated Win7DSFilterTweaker to version 3.2
    # ffdshow is now used by default for decoding Vorbis audio instead of CoreVorbis

To be honest i have not posted beta because too much confusion with frequent updates.
6.0.0 is stable release, 6.0.2 is a beta and you have not mentioned that 6.0.2 is beta right?

Once you lick the link you can see it says "Beta downloads"
I'm using this atm and it's pretty much stable.
