WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Dennis Hopper has died. The actor had a large connection with the city of Wilmington.
A family friend says Hopper died Saturday at his home in Venice, California with family and friends by his side.
His manager announced last year that Hopper was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Hopper appeared in movies such as "Easy Rider" and "Hoosiers".
He was 74 years old.
Hopper also starred in "Blue Velvet", "Chasers" and "Super Mario Brothers". All of those were filmed here in Wilmington. He lived here for quite sometime and was largely responsible for the restoration of what is now City Stage in downtown.
