AV-Test GmbH did a thorough test of Microsoft Security Essentials, with almost 3200 viruses, Trojans and worms. All files were detected by the AV, even those ones that aren't yet detected and cleaned by other paid AV software. They also tested it for false positives, where an AV points out legitimate software as a virus, and even then MSE passed the test with flying colors. None of the clean files were marked as malicious by it.

Its ability to detect malware and rootkits has also been praised by AV-Test and they've found no reason to complain so far. Although they want to test it against more sample just to be sure. With lightweight performance, and no nonsense design along with almost next to none useless prompts MSE has really put up a competition to the many popular and mostly useless when needed AV software that not only bug the user but fail to detect many viruses.

at least its free and it has shown its value before release ... and i hope the final version will beat kaspersky

and because i hate linux & apple products i would blow a kiss to Microsoft for this

Well I'm expecting good results from any tests.It's made by "Microsoft" for it's own OS.

What results? I can't see any comparison on that site! And that article is vague. It's just probably MS's publicity scheme.

That was a real fuck up from MS. They can't claim IE8's Web stardard compliance is the same when it scores 20% in the Acid3 test, whereas Opera and Firefox get 100%.

AV-Test GmbH test was a bit too for Miicrosoft Security Essentials kind, av-comparatives.org tests are more reliable. It is worth to take a closer look to know which AVs use and which avoid at all cost...

If your interested. Go to the link above and read the comparisons of IE and FF and tell me I'm either stupid in NOT using IE or I'm a complete moron for thinking that I should believe this crap on there.

When I read on there that a lot of the functionality that is available in FF is inherent in IE, then I really don;'t know what to believe. YOu can't convince me that the extensions like Mouse Gestures Redox and Chatzilla and what ever kind of extensions there are on my FF browser are inherent in IE....ya....right.

And if that site want's to convince me that FF isn't proactive in phishing more so than IE, then I must've been born yesterday.

Of all the things that are of IE, it's got more holes than swiss cheese.

It's so full of holes, you could probably drain water through it.

Either the guys over at that site don't know what Private Browsing ( in FF) is or they're getting paid to publish that garbage.

honestly mse fucked up my pc, slow downs, crashes, i don't recommend it. You should consider other cloud based tools and for removable media you should always have a standard antivirus which keeps virus definitions on your computer not on a cloud. Avast 5 is fine or Avira is decent always.
