TRNN: VIDEO: Iran: What's intelligence got to do with it?

There is a video by 2 persons, both connected to intelligence communities in the states, who present a short discussions on secrecy.

A statement that one of the presenters ( a CIA analyst) makes is that the media/press can not be trusted.
One of the things that is said re: this is that the press gets information from some of it's sources, are sources that they shouldn't be talking too.

One of the other persons involved in the presentation is a person by the name of Greg Thielmann who, apparently, did openly criticized false information which was used to gain support for launching an invasion and occupation of Iraq.

Apparently, this also did bring an end to his career as a service officer.

Have a look at the vid. It's only about 8 minuites in length.

And a good listen to if your interested.

the truth is, no one can be trusted explicitly:

media - they have private owners, censorship/falsification of unwanted information, corrupt or biased members, questionable sources, they reach a large amount of public and to some extent form the general public opinion

various government agency PR's - they express government views or preferable views that show the government in the best light possible, no matter what the actual facts are, so censorship & co. are even greater here

independent news sites/organizations - questionable standpoints, allegiance, sources & goals

in the end, one can only try to get a hold of information from all the sides and rely on one's own instinct & reasoning, try to distinguish between facts & interpretations of facts and at the same time connect them to possible interests of all those parties involved - then, maybe, one will be able to see the forest for/beyond the trees, otherwise one risks being a victim of the sad truth - to be yet another successfully fed/steered/controlled sheep

yes. your right. no-one person or organization can really be trusted. With respect to the public media being owned by private individuals, in all honesty, I myself question some of the debates or discussions being made by, lets say right-wing news groups such as FOX news.

I think that one couuld also question the same thing for leftist news groups such as news from China, for example. Which you can find also on the internet.
That's basically a propoganda machine per se.
