Al Jazeera English: UN: Afghan vote fraud widespread

"Widespread fraud" took place in Afghanistan's presidential election in August, the UN special representative to the country has said. Kai Eide made the comments at a news conference on Sunday, in response to allegations by Peter Galbraith, his dismissed ex-deputy, that he had concealed evidence of fraud."The extent of that fraud is now being determined."......It has been claimed that there was 30 per cent fraud.

    Maybe more than 30 percent??

    and then this:

.....EU election monitors have said that about 1.5m votes - 1.1m for Karzai - were suspicious......However, concern has been raised by authorities that unless results are released soon Afghanistan's harsh winter could make a run-off vote impossible on logistic and security grounds

what's interesting is that none of them specified what is exactly suspicious about the votes, therefore making these allegations pretty much useless except for disturbing the diplomatic relationships by demeaning the elections regularity

    Yes.
I read that too and was also wondering about that as well at one point.

I think that what they meant slikrapid is that maybe those votes cast, were maybe votes cast more than once.

That is, voted ahead of time and just handed off into the ballot box that may have contained the same vote for the same person. You know what I mean??

Maybe some of those votes were not even cast at all and someone, or perhaps some people loyal to the country's cu rrent leader just conspired together and falsly stated that what-ever amount of votes at what-ever voting station (after being ....er.....(falsley) counted??), were for Karzai.

who knows. From all the news that I've been reading. Just about anything is possible, yes??

    cover-ups that cover-up, the cover-ups.
