Wikileaks: Worldwide battle rages for control of the internet

Check it out. I do believe there is some elemental truth to this:

WHEN thousands of protestors took to the streets in Iran following this year's disputed presidential election, Twitter messages sent by activists let the world know about the brutal policing that followed. A few months earlier, campaigners in Moldova used Facebook to organise protests against the country's communist government, and elsewhere too the internet is playing an increasing role in political dissent.
    ..........
The latest evidence of these clampdowns comes in a report on the Middle East and north Africa by the OpenNet Initiative (ONI), a collaboration of researchers based in the UK and North America. Among the restrictions it reports are clampdowns on Facebook in Syria and the use of hidden cameras in Saudi Arabia's internet cafes.

    Here's the link. It's a moderate read.

    "God, from the mount Sinai
    whose grey top shall tremble,
    He descending, will Himself,
in thunder, lightning, and loud trumpet’s sound,
    ordain them laws".

use of hidden cameras in Saudi Arabia's internet cafes.
wow, they use hidden cameras, looks like they're still far behind the west (usa) where they don't need to hide the cameras, since they are everywhere you go

the internet is playing an increasing role in political dissent.
the internet has a major role in giving the ability to show different viewpoints on things, since many opinions are censored out by the media or may never catch the public's eye otherwise

I totally agreee with you. The mainstream media just gives the viewer the information that it want's to give. That news that is or will be popular to it's viewers.

Any other news, it ( the news organizations) know that it will cause too much of a disturbance.

basically, you know that you and I are fed what-ever it is that we're told to be aware of. Not much more. Alternate news agencies are there for the one's that are interested in knowing what's going on.

I find that news from other news centres, such as Al-Jazeera, present news from a different perspective.
It's fine to have news from the WEst.
But I also like news from the opposite perspective as well.

I know. I recall that other news weblink you gave me before that was also an alternative news site, too.
