    How to Pick The Fastest Torrents

    If you follow some basic rules BitTorrent is without a doubt the best way to share large files online. Interestingly, BitTorrent's inventor Bram Cohen recently noted that torrents with more peers are not always faster. We give some pointers on what torrents will guarantee the best download speeds.

    In short, a torrent with 80 seeders and 20 leechers will be faster than one with 1000 seeders and 9000 leechers.

    this is a simplified view that doesn't reflect actual reality which has much more complexity, but if we want a quick way for choosing a torrent to start (hoping that peers are relatively equal considering their speeds) then i guess this calculation can be done

    For example, a torrent with 30 seeders and 70 leechers (30% seeders) will generally be faster than one with 500 seeders and 2500 leechers (20% seeders).
    correction - this is 16,7% seeders

    so a general way to calculate this percentage would be as follows:

    S=number of seeders
    L=number of leechers
    P=percentage of seeders (the value we want to calculate and choose the torrent with a higher P value)

    P=S/(S+L)*100

    example:
    torrent with 500 seeders and 2500 leechers
    S=500
    L=2500
    S+L=3000

    P=500/3000*100=16,7% seeders

    so the higher this P value, the better the speed
