Woman Hit With $1.92 Million Fine in RIAA Case

Jammie Thomas-Rasset has lost her retrial against the RIAA and was ordered to pay $1.92 million for 24 songs she shared via Kazaa. The defense had argued that it might have been her children who shared the files instead of Thomas-Rasset, but the jury didn’t buy this and found her guilty.

    Thumbs down

those judges/jury should be put to prison instead and fined for being ignorant or corrupt, this verdict would be ridiculous if it wasn't tragic

she should go to a higher court instance, that should solve things

also there are many lawyers who successfully defended their clients and they should help out

hope she doesn't loose the spirit and start paying out

WEll, that's what happens when you use programs like kazaa and others like them. Most people, at least from what I understand, get caught using kazza and limewire.

Correct me if I'm wrong though. But that's what I understand though.

No doubt public trackers too, of course.

Poor woman, I think she got "hand-picked" by RIAA. Guess they are trying to make her an example out of this. They will fail I hope.

    This comment is killer:
Does anybody have the list of songs she is being FUCKED OVER for? I’m gonna download these and upload, seed, share and post these EVERY FUCKING WHERE. This is just insane.

Average person, as in not savvy enough for use torrents, Kazaa and Limewire pretty much fine. Problem is they come configured to share. That is major issue. Yes, if no one share, no one to download from, but if just want a couple songs, not sharing cause no harm.

RIAA like to make mockery of both people and justice system. They good at this. Bastards.

no one said the fight will be easy, but to build a future where user opinion counts there will be sacrifices and many will fall under the corporate/corrupt boot - as long as user pressure continues things will change
