Meteorite bombardment may have made Earth more habitable, said study

Researchers say that the pieces of rock during the Late Heavy Bombardment (LHB) four billion years ago could have brought water and carbon dioxide with them which are the building blocks of life.

They believe that the extreme temperatures caused when the boulders entering the atmosphere would have vaporised the outer crust releasing the two compounds before impact.

Researchers suggest the delivery of this water could have made Earth's atmosphere wetter and the release of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide could have trapped more energy from sunlight warm enough to sustain liquid oceans.

    uhhh, theories

imo they are reaching for straws here:

at that time there should have already been like 80% of water vapor in the atmosphere (enough for life?)

greenhouse gas carbon dioxide could have trapped more energy from sunlight warm enough to sustain liquid oceans.
i guess later few billions of years of impact can't compete with ancient asteroid CO2 gained by a few percents of crust melting

also these asteroid remains are tainted evidence (few billions of years no less)

not to mention that 'life' just happens to start by itself (smart little molecules no less )
