They are not recruiting from anywhere(not responding), user invites are disabled, I heard from a BiB user that the last person who joined the site was around 6 months back. no disabled users are getting reenabled, they are in completed lockdown mode because of this.

Thanks for backing this up with actual facts. The drama with Archivist was several years before OpenAI, he was the reason they added anti-scraping limits, and if anything, he's also at greater legal risk for actually hosting (or having hosted) the files. But I absolutely don't blame BIB staff if they're on edge about feds going after the "first source" of those books.
