    Question Registry cleaners...yay or nay?

    Hi--

I've heard and read so many conflicting reports of the effectiveness/idiocy of using registry cleaners that I'm quite confused. Should one Be used? If so, which one do you recommend? Thanks!

I can recommend CCleaner's built-in cleaner, or if you want a dedicated tool, Glarysoft's Registry Cleaner, which is also free.

I've used Registry First Aid for years without incident, and with noticeable benefits.

if you use such cleaner don't forget to backup the registry before doing anything so you can restore it if something bad happened to the system and it's better to manually select which "fixes" applied to the registry and not doing it automatically

    ERUNT for the win.

Glarysoft's registry cleaner also has an option to backup and restore registry keys it has deleted.

+1 vote for JV16 Power Tools

Very flexible accurate reg cleaner, picks up keys other reg cleaners miss, has backup and restore option too.

I didn't use any of these and my windows is still fast.
In 90% these tools destroy the windowsinstallation and programs won't work, but the speedup is 0%.

If you system is completely wasted by software you better should make a clean install.

    best regards
