    i don't think this kind of utilities were used to speed up the system. they do delete invalid registry entries or remove unused entries from old uninstalled applications or dlls

    defragmenting your drive and also your registry are still the best way to increase the performance of your system responses without adding more hardware resources

    With PageDefrag you can defragment the drive space registry files use to improve read times at least a bit (just like with any other defragged file).

    Furthermore, NTREGOPT can make login times noticeably decrease by removing blank, unneeded chunks of space from the registry hives without otherwise altering their contents.

    two nice utilities that i also use, too bad my system rarely boots and i'm too lazy to take advantage of this lol

    all sysinternals utils are very useful imo

    I don't like rebooting either, so when one of these tools requires me to do so, I usually delay running it until a few minutes before shutting down and going to sleep.
