Microsoft slashing Xbox 360 prices, but is now a good time to buy?

This Friday, September 19th, Microsoft will be cutting the cost of its Xbox 360 console to as little as ?129.99.

The drop in price comes just weeks after similar price cuts in Japan and the USA, and Microsoft will be subsequently expecting a significant boost in sales.

However, the tech-savvy consumer may find that the days or weeks following the price cut may not be an opportune moment to buy, and the reasoning is Jasper.

Jasper, a codename given to an upcoming Xbox 360 hardware revision, will provide - we hope - a cooler, quieter and more reliable Xbox 360 console. The revision isn't the Xbox 360's first, either. Since its launch in November 2005, Microsoft has upgraded the Xbox 360's innards on numerous occasions. The trouble is, it never tells us when, or what to expect.

xbox 360 arcade is said to be sold..
it's cheap but has not hard discs. but if someone wants to play LIVE,he should have hard discs. so this one is better choice for those who only want to play alone

i buy my xbox 360 in 345$ on ebay, and i think now its good time to buy ps3 !

it is a good time to buy an Xbox 360 but why dont just buy the Elite it has so much more hdd space so you can play games off your hdd

i would want to get a ps3... but it hasn't been hacked yet! so as of now, i can get any game i want to play with xbox360 (but the games aren't as good!) and ps3 just seems to be unhackable yet.

Jup, and I think it will remain unhackale for some time to come. Not many people want a hacked ps3 cause, almost nobody has a bluerayburner. For free games=>Xbox. For better hardware and free internet=> ps3. Keep in mind that xbox live is 60$/year so after 5 years, that's already 300$. That is about the pricedifference with the ps3.

I would wait till after the PS3 slim launches, Microsoft will probably slash them even more then once they see how high the sales are.

this is an absolutely awesome deal. i'd pick this up and find a 20gig HD on craigslist for $20. The elite package or whatever they call it these days is the exact same system.
